Cunning plan behind felling of Indian giants
August 14, 2008, 7:39 pm

Such an elaborate OBITUARY for the Fab-4 is superflous and they don”t deserve it at all !! NO cunningness or ritualistic planning was required or warranted to fell the Indian batsmen, who are living on the “borrowed time” and but for the courtesy of Dilip Vengsarkar & Co., in ANY OTHER COUNTRY, all of them would have been dumped long long ago !!

The Lankan strategy was very simple. They know that Murali can wreck each one of them by his spin-ware and besides him, they have the added menace in Mendis. This duo is more than adequate to play up on the minds of Indians; even a Dhoni could NOT have survived this onslaught. He”d have been praying the Almighty for having chosen to skip this tour !! All that the Lankans needed was to cut open the opening pair of Gambhir & Sehwag and the INDIAN WALL CRUMBLES ON ITS OWN !! ( Posted: Tuesday , August 12, 2008 at 20:09 )

Big expectations from ‘fab four’ but little delivered

Dear Madam Mehaa !! For us, the human beings, there”s a natural process called AGE-ING .. However much hard one tries to defy it, one can”t and one has to accept & respect it, whether it”s Sachin, Ganguly, Dravid or VVS or for that matter Anil Kumble. They are NOT at all like a vintage stuff, similar to the old-fashioned car or the decades-old wines in an under-ground cells, that fetch more value bcos of its majestic looks or taste !

In view of their very poor, shabby performance in Lanka, they should all retire from the game gracefully. It was nightmarish to watch them bat before a sudden virus or cobra-like Mendis. If they don”t retire on their own, the Selectors are apt to ignore them and you”re bound to get frustrated. Why all this dishonour and disrespect ?? One might wish an improved performance against Australia in our own soil, but the Aussies are tremendous gutsy players and they”ll go all-out to win each & every game and the series too .. OUR HEART-FELT SYMPATHIES ARE WITH GARY KIRSTEIN ON THE TWIN LOSS ! HOWEVER, HIS PRESENCE OR ABSENCE IN SRI LANKA FOR THE ODI SERIES IS GOING TO MATTER THE LEAST, AS IT IS THE PLAYERS WHO HAVE TO STAND UP AND FACE “THE MUSIC” !

OUR FRIEND RAJEEV”S OBSERVATIONS ARE QUITE VALID. WHY THIS MANIA FOR THE FOREIGN COACHES. THE BCCI SHD HAVE GIVEN UP THIS FANCY, WITH THE SAD EPISODE OF GREIG CHAPPEL. CAN”T YOU FIND ONE OR TWO COMPETENT COACHES AMONGST THE PAST, DISTINGUISHED CRICKETERS ? IF YOU CANT, MR SHARAD PAWAR JI, IT IS A BIG SHAME NOT ONLY FOR YOUR BOARD BUT FOR ONE BILLION INDIANS !! Jayalalithaa fuels Mayawati’s PM dreams

Madam Jayalalithaa’s observations are so Quixotic that cannot be taken as final, more so now, when she’s in a sort of desperation to cobble up some Parties and forge an Alliance with “like-minded” Elements to take head-on the Powerful DMK-Congress Front to win a few seats in the Lok Sabha .. While the BJP & the PMK could be counted upon to veer around her, she must be after the elusive, neo-force “Captain” Vijaykanth who now appears to have a tremendous backing, mostly the YOUTH ! The politicians who have had some bickerings with her in the past were sore by her quick-sand mindset on men & matters; over & above, people are also scared of “a remote control” operating from the above & ruling the Poes Gardens .. That’s another Tamilnadu Mayaa ..

Should parents encourage their children to play sports other than cricket?
August 12, 2008, 4:52 pm

Howsoever hard a beloved mother tries to wean her child away from feeding breast-milk, the child does resist; so also the children’s love & fascination for the game of cricket. Added to this “fatal addiction”, young kids’ glorious exploits with their bats such as Sachin, Raina & Kaif make an indelible impression such that they become their “Role’Models” and literally worship them, for reasons, right or wrong. Also, these semi-gods making tons of money at later stages figure in their mindsets; all these make them HARD-CORE cricket-addicts..ONLY CRICKET !!

In a country of 1.1 billions, hardly 30-40 persons emerge as full-time National cricketers, some of them right from the age of 15-16. In the process, they also suffer enormous physical & mental tortures by being ignored & omitted from the local/State/regional/national teams, thanks to the myopic selectors, who are the necessary evils but have their own vested/selfish interests. A cricketer to emerge at the national level has to endure all these, besides brickbats & insults, very often. The child prodigy Sachin Tendulkar is the LONE exception.

On the other hand, other games such as soccer, hockey, basket/ volley-ball, etc, are also team-games but if one excels in any position, his merits are not ignored. The individual games such as tennis or golf brings in instant recognition but demands lots of energy plus money. The Athletic field is ever so vast/fertile that any individual with some natural talent & devotion/dedication can make it big ..

It is time that the Parents & Grandpas started teaching the nuances/virtues of the games OTHER THAN CRICKET and make them play. Charity begins at home, it’s said, and so the famous cricketers like Sachin, Kapil, Dhoni, etc, make their own kids & those in their neighbourhood to play & encourage games & sports other than cricket. The Govt authorities shd also encourage kids in these endeavours, ensuring that the allocated money is NOT siphoned off .. elsewhere !! Thus we can see more ABHINAVS.

Mr Narayan: Pl do NOT at all consider or even moot the idea of sending our Armed Forces to any country, unless it’s under the auspices of the UNI. Remember always the failures/casualties suffered in Sri Lanka during Rajiv time .. Now look at the failures of the US in Afghanistan & Iraq .. earlier their own (mis)adventures in Vietnam ..

After watching so many women-folks in the French Open & the Wimbledon, this humble yours-truly is of the opinion that Madam Sania doesn’t have what it takes to get over even the preliminary rounds in the Olympics .. the women players these days are physically & mentally very tough and the poor Sania is NO MATCH for them !! Any way, as she said, only a billion people’s prayers shd give her some luck .. Vidhushak !

Rift in red ranks after CPM sacks Somnath

The Speaker is a Constitutional Functionary and once he assumes this High Office, he DOES NOT BELONG TO ANY PARTICULAR PARTY OR GROUP, but carries on as a Neutral, Impartial person for the smooth & orderly conduct of the proceedings in the Parliament. The so-called expulsion by Karat & his “fellow-travellers” has not meaning or merit ! Exactly for such a contingency that if the Speaker wants to contest again, he should be ELECTED UNANIMOUSLY, i.e. no opponent against him in his chosen constituency. The Parliament would do well to enact such a Law in the next session .. If Somnath Dada doesn’t want to contest again, the UPA should mark him for a distinguished post .. though not as a reward but as a meritorious dignitary to applaud his bravery & courage/

Trust Vote in Technicolour

The “Live-Drama” enacted before the idiot-boxes was witnessed by some millions the world over and thus we got to see the heroes, heroenes & villains–ALL FOR FREE !! If Maya can slowly & surely work up to become a PM, there’s nothing wrong for the Oxford-Cambridge students’ blue-eyed boy Lalu ! Both are scene-stealers in their own inimitable way and lo, it’s democracy and you’ve got to play for the galleries !! So also, a chamaleon-like Ajit Singh, who has the dubious distinction of changing colours three times within a week and surely it’all MONEY-SPEAK !! Mind you, this gentleman is an American-educated MBA and so he knows “his business & maths ” ..

Rajdeep has done an unique service for the students of Political Science, in having brought out succinctly the finer aspects of the failures in the interpretation & practice of the Constitution Laws of the Land. If someone were to delve deep into these aspects and make out a thesis, he’ll be richly rewarded by a Doctorate ! Allowing the branded criminals to prticipate in the voting, cross-voting by the “Hon’ble Members” for the lure of Gandhi-notes and ten others–sitting on the fence and not doing anything at all. It shd be made mandatory for a Member to press at least one button, rather than being a mute witness.

India may be a technical, computer-savvy but if the system fails in a crucial voting process like this, whom would you blame ??

The story we got may be in “technicolour” but eventuallY, it was BLACK (MONEY) & WHITE Achkans for the UNWORTHY PERSONS ..

GOD SAVE US ALL ..
